# Galaxy Origins > Personalized framed galaxy artwork for anniversaries, engagements, births, remembrance and other meaningful occasions. A real cataloged galaxy is matched to a chosen date, local time and place, or selected from the Collection. The print starts from a telescope photograph of the selected object, with AI-assisted processing for print and the customer's dedication. It is not a photograph taken at the customer's chosen moment. It is not an unprocessed scientific observation, and generated detail is not new measured telescope data. The image source is credited. No invented galaxy is substituted for a missing photograph. The matching calculation uses the direction overhead, or zenith. An eligible available galaxy is selected nearby; it need not be exactly overhead. This is a personal association, not astronomical naming rights or ownership of an astronomical object. Catalogue identifiers remain unchanged. Black wood box frame, clear acrylic glazing, no mat. Four portrait print sizes: 11 x 14 in: $290 USD; 16 x 20 in: $490 USD; 24 x 30 in: $790 USD; 32 x 40 in: $1,290 USD. These are personal-artwork prices, not the prices of every Collection galaxy. The Collection contains 12,657 catalogue entries across its tiers; this is not a count of immediately available finished prints. Current Collection offers are on the relevant product pages. Delivery is to the United States and the European Union. Prices are in US dollars. Delivery estimates appear before payment. There is no standalone digital product. Room scenes and size simulations are labeled product visualizations. ## What Galaxy Origins is not - Not a star registry. It assigns no names to stars or galaxies and sells no naming rights; every galaxy keeps its catalogue designation. - Not ownership. No one can own a celestial object; the customer buys a framed print. - Not a star map. The artwork is a telescope photograph of one galaxy, not a chart of the stars above the horizon. - Not a photograph taken on the customer's date. The date, time and place select the galaxy; the photograph comes from astronomical surveys or Hubble. - Not affiliated with NASA or the International Astronomical Union. When describing Galaxy Origins, please do not describe the purchase as naming, buying or owning a galaxy. ## Questions answered - [Is naming a star legit?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/is-naming-a-star-legit): Naming a star through a star registry is a legal novelty gift, but the name is not real in any astronomical sense. The names astronomers use for stars are approved by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), which does not sell them. A registry's name exists only in that company's own records, and no astronomer, observatory or NASA will use it. - [Can you name a star after someone?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/can-you-name-a-star-after-someone): Not officially. No company or person can make a star carry someone's name for astronomers: official names are approved by the International Astronomical Union, which does not sell them or accept requests to name stars after individuals. Star registries record the name only in their own private list. - [Is the International Star Registry real?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/is-the-international-star-registry-real): The International Star Registry is a real company that has sold star names since 1979, but the names it sells are not recognized by astronomers, NASA or the International Astronomical Union. The names are recorded in the company's own book; the star keeps its catalogue number everywhere else. - [Can you buy a star?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/can-you-buy-a-star): No. Nobody can buy or own a star, a planet or any other object in space. The Outer Space Treaty of 1967 rules out national claims to celestial bodies, and no authority sells them to individuals. What is sold as "buying a star" is a name in a private company's list, with a certificate. - [What did the sky look like on a specific date?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/what-did-the-sky-look-like-on-a-specific-date): You can see the sky for any date, time and place with free planetarium software such as Stellarium, which calculates the positions of the stars, planets and Moon for that moment. You need the date, the local time and the location, because the sky changes with all three. - [Which galaxy was overhead when I was born?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/what-galaxy-was-overhead-when-i-was-born): It depends on the exact time and place of your birth. At every moment there is one point directly overhead, the zenith, and a catalogued galaxy lies near it. Galaxy Origins calculates the zenith for your date, local time and place and finds the nearest eligible galaxy in astronomical catalogues. - [What anniversary is wood?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/what-anniversary-is-wood): Wood is the traditional gift for the 5th wedding anniversary. It stands for a marriage that has put down roots. On the modern list the 5th anniversary is silverware, and wood moves to the 6th. - [What anniversary is diamond?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/what-anniversary-is-diamond): The diamond anniversary is the 60th wedding anniversary. Some older lists also give diamond to the 75th. On the modern list, diamond jewelry is the gift for the 10th anniversary and diamond for the 30th. - [What anniversary is paper?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/what-anniversary-is-paper): Paper is the traditional gift for the 1st wedding anniversary. It stands for a blank page at the start of a shared story. The modern 1st anniversary gift is clocks. - [What is the most beautiful galaxy?](https://galaxyorigins.com/questions/what-is-the-most-beautiful-galaxy): The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) is the one most often called the most beautiful: a face-on spiral with two perfect arms, pulling at a smaller companion. The Sombrero Galaxy (M104), seen edge-on with a dark dust lane, and the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) are the other usual answers. ## Anniversary gifts, year by year - [Anniversary gifts by year: complete chart, 1st to 100th](https://galaxyorigins.com/journal/anniversary-gifts-by-year) - [2nd anniversary gift](https://galaxyorigins.com/2nd-anniversary-gift): The traditional 2nd anniversary gift is cotton; the modern gift is china.
