Terms of sale
What you are buying, from whom, at what price, and what happens if it is wrong.
Who you are buying from
These terms apply to every order placed on galaxyorigins.com. The seller is UAB Tai aktualu, trading as Galaxy Origins, Liepų g. 10, LT-92114 Klaipėda, Lithuania. Registration: company code 304817892, Register of Legal Entities of the Republic of Lithuania. Questions and complaints: care@galaxyorigins.com.
What is sold
The calculation is free. It takes a date, a time and a place, works out the point that stood at the zenith, and finds the catalogued galaxy nearest to it that is still unassigned. You may run it as often as you like without buying anything.
What is sold is a personalised framed print and an entry in our private register. A personal record accompanies the physical edition. We do not sell a standalone digital product.
We do not sell galaxies, names for galaxies, or any right over them. Nobody can. Only the International Astronomical Union names astronomical objects, and it does not sell names. What is yours is the record we keep and the object we print.
Prices and tax
Prices are in US dollars and are final: no tax or delivery charge is added at checkout. Your card issuer may convert the amount into your own currency.
The price that binds is the one displayed on the order page when the order button is pressed. Where an order has been placed at a price that was obviously wrong, we will tell you before charging and you may cancel.
Payment
Payment is taken by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure page and never reach us; we receive only the confirmation that payment succeeded and a reference for it. Nothing is made before payment has cleared.
Delivery
Every artwork is printed and framed to order and shipped to the delivery address, within the United States or the European Union. Production usually takes a few working days, and the delivery estimate is shown before you pay. Tracking is sent by email when the parcel leaves.
Right of withdrawal
Each artwork is made to your specification: your date, time, place, galaxy and words. Under Article 16(c) of Directive 2011/83/EU the fourteen-day right of withdrawal does not apply to such goods, so an order cannot be returned for a change of mind once payment has been taken. This does not affect your rights if the artwork arrives damaged, is misprinted, or carries data that does not match the catalogue: see Shipping and returns.
Checkable, or refunded
Every record names a PGC number and prints the coordinates it was computed from. Look them up in the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database. If what we printed does not match what the catalogue holds, tell us and the order is refunded in full, whether or not any period has run out.
Law, and what to do if we disagree
These terms are governed by the law of the seller's country of establishment, without depriving a consumer of the protection of the mandatory rules of their own country of residence.
If something goes wrong, write to us first. Consumers may also refer a dispute to the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of Lithuania (vvtat.lt).
